SKILLS
"The Most important shot in golf is the next one." ~ Ben Hogan

Growing up playing travel hockey in south Florida has been instrumental in creating my non-stop work ethic and dedication to success in the golf industry. The skills I've developed through hockey have been invaluable in my role of creating a successful golf agronomic team.

After graduating from the University of Georgia Turf Management Program in 2013 I was fortunate enough to accept an Assistant Superintendent position with a premier private club. There, I've had the opportunity to work under the skilled mentorship of two exceptional superintendents that withhold experience from recognized clubs like Augusta National, Charlotte and Bel- Air Country Club.

Based in Asheville for the past 14 years, I been working as a Senior Assistant Superintendent for "The Cliffs at Walnut Cove". My tenure at Walnut Cove has been rewarding and beneficial in developing my skills and knowledge of agronomic science, while pursuing the position of a Golf Course Superintendent.

Though out my career I have learned that the key to success is a well- rounded and balanced life. When away from the golf course, I love taking my boat out on the lake and spending time my fiancé Lana. I also enjoy golf, hiking, weightlifting. It's my belief health/ physical fitness keeps a positive, growth-oriented mindset enables us to embrace challenges and overcome obstacles.

My Philosophy

Advocate for the proper balance of agronomic principles that will result in healthy turfgrass while allowing for excellent playability and minimal effect on the environment.  Driven to follow an identity and culture that a club has, as well as helping create a new one through agronomics and playability.  A key component to a sound golf course is superb communication and leadership, not only with the staff, but with members and club officials alike.  While maintenance protocol can vary greatly by property and budget, the ability to balance agronomics with economics is of utmost importance.  This is achieved through years of experience and the constant desire to meet or exceed member expectations.

EXPERIENCE

The Cliffs at Walnut Cove 18-Hole Private golf club Jack Nicklaus Signature design.

Helped oversee an 18-hole Bunker renovation using the Better Billy Bunker system. A trademarked material that virtually eliminates washouts and soil contamination. Work performed will enhance the playability for golfers and minimize labor cost.

Oversaw design, planning and construction of an 18-hole forward tee box expansion. All the earthwork, drainage, rootzone mix, sod, and irrigation work was performed by an outside contractor.

Oversaw construction of the practice tee drainage project. Work performed to ensure proper drainage to withstand heavy rain fall. Site work done in house to save on outside contractor costs.

Conducted installation of a 250' artificial driving range hitting surface to alleviate delayed start times in winter months. This will allow golf members to practice throughout the season even during unplayable turfgrass conditions.

Managed the practice facility expansion to accommodate the growth of our golf membership. Site work included removing the bunker, reshaping the green, installing drainage and adding just over 3500 sq ft of A-1 bentgrass.

There is no better office then a pristine 18-hole golf course.

Assisted with installation of new and updated pump station. Other than supplying the golf course with a new heart, the biggest improvement is power monitoring. New technology allows you to monitor operation and controls anywhere you can use a smart device.

Supervised the resurfacing and regrading slope of the driving range tee. To help move stagnate water away from the playing surface and to keep turfgrass plant and root system healthy.
